Senior Systems Engineer - Midtown, Atlanta

Work with a leading global provider of wireless managed services and content gateway for carriers and enterprises and is headquartered in midtown Atlanta, Georgia. Client is currently seeking an enthusiastic Senior System Engineer to join our IT department who is passionate about working with leading edge technology and is comfortable working in a fast pace ever changing environment.

The Senior Systems Engineer will be part of an international team of individuals that will support 99.99 uptime of all systems inclusive of applications (jboss and WebLogic), running on Solaris and Linux, backed by oracle databases with storage on Hitachi SANS.

The ideal candidate will not only know how to use the technology but will be able to utilize technology to make something new or better.

The essential responsibilities are as follows:

• Partners with Development to assist with architectural decisions and deployment processes across both production and non production environments.
• Collaborate with Non-US based Systems Engineering resources.
• Analyze issues reported by level 1 and 2 support resources and proactively identify areas to improve the stability of the platform.
• Develop and implement processes to minimize platform costs while optimizing throughput and capacity.
• Support and Maintain the High-availability Network/Security Platforms and Infrastructure

Required Skills

• Enterprise Production Unix (Solaris)/Linux System Administration
• Java Application Server Administration (preferably jboss or tomcat)
• High Availability/Load Balancing/Clustering
• Shell Scripting (Bash, Perl)
• Veritas VxFS and VCS
• Working technical knowledge of protocols such as JDBC, XML, LDAP, SQL, SMTP, and IP. Enterprise SAN including hardware, software, RAID, SCSI, and other storage technologies (Hitachi experience a plus)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills

Desired Skills

• Virtualization (preferably Solaris zones)
• MYSQL/Postgres Administration
• Performance tuning
• Knowledge of J2ME and SMPP

Education:
Bachelors degree in related major and a minimum of 7 years experience or 10 years of experience.
