Senior HL7 Applications Data Architect
The purpose of the Senior Architect is to be part of the IT architecture leadership team in a lead design role and be hands-on with the implementation for Real Time data acquisition solutions. This position will be accountable for key design decisions; developing the entire architectural framework for system development, maintenance and enhancements efforts; and establishing the blueprint for development and integration of business and information systems. This position will design and/or approve how the data is handled or stored; have direct control of data models, security model and procedures, storage layout, server configuration and transformation methodology; will be accountable for overall performance of systems; and perform multi-tier architecture. This position will also provide troubleshooting and client relations as well as have the greatest responsibility for providing direction and mentoring to applications development team. This position works in collaboration with Architecture, Applications Development, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Warehousing, Solution Center, Operations and other enterprise IT-architecture groups and stakeholders to ensure that the applications development changes meet the required deliverables. In additional, this position will work closely with technical and data architects and be the point of contact for outside vendors. This position will have the broadest scope and will provide recommendations and/or leadership to other IT stakeholders across business units. This position takes direction from the IT senior directors and the IT Vice Presidents.
Specific Responsibilities:
Applications Architect Defining and documenting the structure, connections, relationships of business processes, organizational work groups, data applications, user interfaces, applications interfaces, infrastructure and network topology.
Data Architecture Defining and documenting the data requirements and the physical data models necessary to support the overall enterprise application architecture, addressing data integrity, distribution, redundancy, warehousing and application access controls.
Enhancing and maintaining the development of web-based, data-driven business applications with an emphasis on real-time, secure data interfacing, transfer, storage, processing via HL7 2.x and 3.x (inbound and outbound), and reporting (real-time and historical trending) utilizing Sun Java, open source technologies, relational databases and data warehousing appliances.
Testing, transformation, cleansing and integration of multiple healthcare transaction data sources.
Develop a documented process for practices and procedures.
Work cross functionally within the organization to deliver integrated Business Intelligence solutions.
Ensure proper testing processes are established and followed to enable high data integrity, volumes and frequency.
Required Skills, Education & Attributes:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or another relevant discipline plus 10 years of experience in information technology primarily focused with data interfacing and transformation technologies as they relate to HL7 and healthcare EDI.
Demonstrated direct hands-on experience in architecting and growing flexible, scalable, and highly-available systems that process and store large volumes of Real Time information.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge in the development of web-based, data-driven business applications with an emphasis on real-time, secure data interfacing, transfer, storage, and processing via HL7 2.x and 3.x (inbound and outbound).
Demonstrated experience with data interfacing and transformation technologies as they relate to HL7 and healthcare EDI.
Recognized for designing and implementing large volume OLTP solutions.
Experience as an Application and/or Data Architect collaborating with others in a matrixed environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of disaster recovery architectures and strategy
Medical informatics and epidemiology background ideal (not required).
Prior experience with healthcare industry data modeling is highly preferred.
Experience leading the implementation of Business Intelligence solutions from the ground up following a defined methodology.
Experience with Business Intelligence/data modeling toolsets
Demonstrated understanding and experience with relational datasets, data warehouses, data mining and data analysis techniques.
