Prestigious Fortune 500 Company, located in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, is currently seeking a Senior SUN Unix Systems Engineer. Candidate will design, configure, implement and support both stand-alone and networked Servers running heterogeneous operating systems. The candidate must be able to represent the department in meetings with vendors while also working with middle and senior management within IT and the Business Units. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior level administrators. Off hour and on-call support required.

Qualifications:
The candidate should have minimum of 5 years experience with Sun Solaris operating systems and hardware; with knowledge of storage products from EMC and HDS. Will need to demonstrate analytical and technical expertise with installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and problem resolution of said systems. Will also have a proven success record in the design, engineering, and implementation of technical architecture to meet business requirements. With experience configuring and designing systems to leverage LDOMS, Containers and Zones required. They should have experience as a project manager on medium to large projects.

The qualified candidate will have a strong knowledge of Unix internals, Storage subsystems and Protocols including SAN, DAS, NAS, Switches, vitalization, and network interfaces. Understanding of HA systems, Veritas clustering preferred, but will consider Sun Clusters, Veritas Foundation Suite and Oracle preferred. The job requires good organizational and communication skills.

Technology Operating Systems. Solaris 8, 9 and 10 Hardware. Sun "M", SunFire and Enterprise Class Servers. EMC DMX and Clariion systems; HDS Tag, Thunder and Lighting systems. Brocade Switches and Emulex and JNI HBAs.

Software Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File System, EMC Control Center and Powerpath. Veritas Cluster Server. Also Quest Foglight or other Performance Monitoring tools beneficial.
