Position Description The Developer is a member of the team that builds and maintains mission-critical video production systems for the television networks. Sample projects include catalog/search systems. The Developer will work closely with other members of the development team through the full systems lifecycle including requirements capture, design, development, testing, and deployment.

Qualifications (background, education, experience, and other requirements) Qualified candidates will have previous experience building medium- to large-scale,.mission critical* production systems that directly support essential business or technical functions.

Practical experience in the key disciplines of object-oriented software engineering including OOA, OOD, OOP, and testing of OO systems is required. Since managing video assets stresses many elements of general purpose computing infrastructures, the Developer is required to have solid system engineering (eg, technical and application architectures, database, operating systems, networking) skills in addition to application development skills.

Very strong working knowledge and heavy duty experience with Java and J2EE is also necessary.

Strong Spring, Hibernate, JMS, required.

Understanding of design patterns and agile software development methodologies is necessary.

10+ years of Java application development experience.

10+ years experience developing systems with Oracle or MySQL.

Candidates must have working knowledge of SQL and HQL.

6+ years of J2EE experience.

2 or more years experience building and delivering distributed systems that perform critical business or operational functions, preferably in a real- or near-real time environment

Expert in Spring a must

Working knowledge of Hibernate

Candidates must demonstrate excellent OOA and OOD skills

Understanding of design patterns and their practical application

Architectural experience with scaling and clustering high-availability systems

Extensive experience with Lucene, preferably distributed Lucene.

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

2 or more years experience with digital video and audio systems development is preferred

Experience with cataloging, library, search, or other record and meta-data intensive systems preferred

BS in Computer Science or related field required; MS in Computer Science or related field preferred
