Modis is currently seeking a qualified Firewall Engineer for an exciting contract opportunity with our client in Annapolis, MD. This position is expected to start immediately and last for an initial duration of 6 months with a high likelihood of extension.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Firewall Engineer will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance and on-going technical support for Nokia Checkpoint Firewalls.

Day to day responsibilities will include defining and implementing operational standards and guidelines for the Nokia CheckPoint Firewalls as well as performing OS Administration and hardening activities (Unix systems). Candidates must have experience in a High Availability environment with the use of global server/IP Load balancing using Citrix Netscaler or similar load balancers (Big IP F5 or Foundry). Candidates will also be responsible for managing technical escalations, performance tuning and outage mitigation.

The Firewall Engineer must have an active CCNP Certification with 5-8 years experience. In addition, demonstrated expertise with Nokia CheckPoint 4.1, NG, NGAI, NGX and VSX Firewalls is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS
- CCNP Certification with a minimum of 5-8 years experience in a relevant field.
- Advanced Nokia CheckPoint 4.1, NG, NGX, VSX Firewall experience
- Expertise with VPN Concentrators
- Strong Unix experience
- Experience in a High Availability 24x7x365 environment
