What you need for this position:

- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Professional competency as a general practitioner of Occupational Therapy, as defined by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
- Certification by the American Occupational Therapy Certification board and satisfaction of the current state legal licensure requirements of North Carolina
- Experience as a registered Occupational Therapist

What you'll be doing:

- Providing awareness of the roles and function of occupational therapy in the school system.
- Evaluating students to obtain and interpret data necessary for intervention strategies and implementation.
- Developing intervention protocols and procedures for student's programs within scope of own experience.
- Developing Individualized Education Plans, including goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
- Coordinating intervention strategies, including goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
- Implementing intervention strategies directly or supervises intervention by a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Monitoring the student's response to the intervention and modifies strategies as indicated to attain goals.
- Reviewing the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and of individual occupational therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency, using predetermined criteria.
- Maintaining service related records and assists in development of these records according to state/federal guidelines.
- Supervising certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and school volunteers.
- Supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant Level I and Level II students.
- Developing and providing in-service education to members of the educational team.
- Participating in the development of service operations, policies and procedures.
- Screening students to determine need for intervention.
